We are looking for a Controller, a full time position reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. AEE Solar has facilities in San Luis Obispo, Redway and Sacramento. This position will be based in San Luis Obispo. In this high-energy, fast-paced position, the Controller will be responsible for the following:

Job Summary:
Overall management of daily accounting processes, management of accounting staff, training and performance of management staff, facilitating all supervisory accounting and financial functions and processes

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Controller job description
  • Manage, develop, train and support all accounting functions including but not limited to general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll
  • Maintain properly supported accounting system and records in compliance with U.S GAAP
  • Coordinate and monitor accounting department calendar and checklists
  • Own and manage the closing process to allow for timely, complete and accurate monthly reporting
  • Review monthly reconciliations of the G/L to sub-ledgers and independent supporting documentation, ensuring timely identification and resolution differences
  • Review the accuracy and integrity all financial statements
  • Prepare a timely, clear and concise reporting package outlining the monthly, quarterly and year-to-date performance
  • Monitor and report on the efficiency and effectiveness of cash flow and P&L performance management
  • Develop accounting policies and procedures for the effective management, accounting and reporting of key existing and new business and accounting process
  • Review the bank reconciliations and daily activity for potential unusual transactions
  • Implement and monitor effective key controls to prevent fraud and material misstatement to the financial statements
  • Research, evaluate and effectively communicate the impact of applicable existing and new technical accounting pronouncements and guidance
  • Maintain compliance in all subsidiary tax areas including accurate preparation and payment of all property, payroll, sales-and-use tax compliance filings within required timelines
  • Manage the preparation of external audit process and assist with management of field work
  • Assist with the development and implementation of more effective internal processes to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Assist with the annual budget process and the development and implementation of forecasting process
  • Develop and maintain Key Process Indicators (KPI) for effective management of the AEE Controller organization and financial measures in AEE Solar
  • Prepare cost and budget presentations for the AEE Solar Management Group and the Executive Management Group (AEE & EMG)
  • Develop key financial processes to ensure that the AEE Controller organization measures and documents continuously improving performance
  • Supervisor Office Assistant Department
  • Other duties as assigned

Educational Requirements:
Graduate degree in Finance

Professional Experience:
Five to seven years of managerial accounting and financial experience

Essential Mental Functions:
Incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, communicate to external and internal professional individuals and organizations, multitask, be a self-starter, work with little supervision, research techniques and uphold confidentiality, and uphold a professional demeanor.

Essential Physical Functions:
Physical - typing on a keyboard, data entry, filing, may require lifting heavy boxes
Visual - reading and or research on a computer screen
Audio - inbound and outbound telephone calls, noise from the warehouse (office is located in a warehouse)

Equipment Used:
Personal workstation: desk, computer, cell and/or telephone, file cabinet

Additional Comments:
Incumbent must be a self-starter and work with little or no supervision. This position requires knowledge of analytical research methods, precise calculations, and the ability to "think outside of the box", as well being prepared for continual change. AEE Solar has facilities in San Luis Obispo, Redway and Sacramento. This position will be based in San Luis Obispo.

Compensation will be based on experience.
